The Ultimate Slip-Resistant Solution for Wet & Industrial EnvironmentsSafety, Sanitation, and Strength for Summit County BusinessesAt Unlimited Designs Flooring & Epoxy of Akron, we provide flooring solutions that work as hard as you do. Our Sand Broadcast Epoxy Floor Coating (also known as Quartz Flooring) is the most durable, impact-resistant, and safe flooring system available on the market today.
Designed specifically for environments in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, and Barberton that deal with water, grease, heavy foot traffic, or harsh chemicals, this system utilizes colored quartz sand granules embedded in high-performance epoxy. The result is a floor that is virtually indestructible, completely waterproof, and offers superior grip—even when wet. |
What is Sand Broadcast Epoxy? The "Double Broadcast" AdvantageWhile a standard epoxy floor might have one layer of coating, our Sand Broadcast system builds a thick, armor-like shield over your concrete.
The Anatomy of a Quartz Floor:

Where is Sand Broadcast Flooring Used?Ideal for "Wet" and "Heavy" Zones in AkronThis is not usually a living room floor. It is a workhorse floor designed for specific high-demand applications across Northeast Ohio.
Commercial Kitchens & Food PrepIn restaurants throughout Downtown Akron and Highland Square, grease and water are constant hazards. A sand broadcast floor provides the texture needed to prevent slip-and-fall accidents while forming a seamless "bathtub" effect that prevents bacterial growth in grout lines.
Locker Rooms, Restrooms & ShowersAnimal claws can scratch standard coatings. The hardness of quartz sand (a 7 on the Mohs scale) resists scratching from dogs in Fairlawn vet clinics, while the seamless finish prevents urine odors from soaking into the slab.
Veterinary Clinics & KennelsThe texture of a full broadcast system provides grip for bare feet, making it safer for wet areas in Green community centers or backyard pool houses.
Industrial Wash BaysFor manufacturing plants in Norton or Twinsburg, wash-down areas need floors that can handle high-pressure water and harsh detergents without peeling.

Key Benefits for Akron Facility ManagersWhy Upgrade from Tile or Bare Concrete?1. Unmatched Slip Resistance: The texture of the sand granules provides a "sandpaper-like" grip. We can adjust the texture level—rough for a commercial kitchen, or smoother for a hospital hallway—depending on your needs.
2. Decorative Durability: Quartz sand comes in brilliant, UV-stable colors. We can blend "Blue and Gray" for a cool look, or "Red and Tweed" for a warm aesthetic. It looks like high-end terrazzo but costs significantly less and is far more durable. 3. Thermal Shock Resistance: In commercial kitchens, boiling water hits the floor one minute, and ice the next. Our quartz systems can withstand these rapid temperature changes (Thermal Shock) better than standard coatings, which might crack. 4. USDA & FDA Compliance: Our seamless installation, combined with integral cove bases (curving the floor up the wall), meets strict health department codes for food and beverage facilities in Ohio. |
Our Installation Process: Precision & SpeedMinimizing Downtime for Your BusinessWe understand that shutting down a production line or a kitchen costs money. Our Akron-based team works efficiently to get you back up and running.
Step 1: Aggressive Prep We shot-blast or heavily grind the concrete to CSP-3 or CSP-4. We also cut "keyways" around drains and doorways to lock the system in mechanically. Step 2: The Double Broadcast We apply the base coat and throw the quartz sand to rejection. After curing, we sweep the excess and do it again. This double layering is what gives the floor its incredible compressive strength. Step 3: The Lock Coat We apply a clear grout coat to fill the voids between the sand grains. This makes the floor cleanable (mops won't get shredded) while maintaining the non-slip texture. Step 4: The Performance Topcoat We finish with a chemical-resistant Urethane or Polyaspartic that stands up to bleach, acids, and sanitizers used in Akron's commercial industries. |
